Examity User Guide for Okta Certification Exams
Registering for an exam
The first time you register for an Okta Certification exam, you will need to:
- Complete an Examity® user profile and verify that your test-taking computer meets system requirements.
- Schedule and pay for your exam.
Getting started
You will need your Examity profile every time you register to take an exam. You only need to set up your profile one time, but be sure to keep the information in your profile current.
Please note, by design, the browser Back button is disabled in Examity. Please use the navigation menu at the top of the screen
- To get started, go to https://certification.asqula.com. From the Okta Certification Credential Manager landing page, you can select the exam you would like to register for. You can also use the Certification Credential Manager to access study guides and other preparation resources, schedule and take exams, and track the status of your certifications.
- Select the type of exam you want to take. Then click the tile for the specific exam you are interested in. You can also click the link for instructions.
- Click the Begin Registration Process button to proceed. A screen with two tabs will appear. The About this course tab provides details about the type of exam, number of items, total time, and pricing. The Preparation Resources tab offers several options you can click for more information. Click the last link in the list of options to begin the exam registration process.
- To complete a profile, click the link to Proceed To Exam Provider.
Completing an Examity user profile
- Before you can register for an exam, you need to complete an Examity user profile and verify that your test-taking computer meets system requirements. This is a one-time task, so next time you want to schedule an exam, just log in to the Okta Certification Credential Manager.From the Dashboard, click the My Profile tile.
- Click Register to fill in your details to complete your user profile. Click Save.
- Verify that the computer you will use on test day meets system requirements. In the upper right-hand corner of the My Profile page, click Computer Requirements Check.
- Wait a few moments for Examity to check your computer. After each element is confirmed, it will be labeled “Ready.”If any element is labeled “Not Ready”, use the link at the bottom of the screen to contact Examity Support.
- On the My Profile page, you must complete all sections of your user profile before you may schedule an exam. In the Account Information frame, click Edit.
- From the drop-down lists, select your time zone, country, city, state, and enter your company name and phone number. Click Save.
- In the examiKNOW section, you need to set up three unique security questions. You will be asked to answer one of these three questions during authentication on test day. Click Edit to proceed.
- Select three different security questions from the drop-down lists and provide an answer to each. Click Save to continue.
- Next, enter your keystroke biometric signature. Click Edit to open the section. Enter the information requested and click Save to continue.
Scheduling an exam
Schedule your exam online from the Examity dashboard. You may also reschedule or cancel your exam online from the dashboard.
Schedule your exam at least 24 hours before taking the exam. If you are scheduling less than 24 hours in advance, you must select the On-Demand option. You will be charged an additional fee for scheduling less than 24 hours in advance.
- From the Examity dashboard, click the Schedule Exam tile or click the Schedule Exam tab on the top navigation bar. Alternatively, from your profile, click the Schedule an Exam link at the bottom of the page.
- From the Exam Name drop-down menu, select your exam.
- Using the calendar, select your preferred exam date and time and click Schedule.
- You may pay for an exam by credit card or promotional code. Enter the information, click Apply, and then click Next.
- You will receive an email notification confirming your exam appointment.Make sure you have reviewed the terms & conditions outlined in the Okta Certification Program Agreement and the policies outlined in the Okta Certification Program Handbook in advance. On test day, you must agree to the Okta Certification Program Agreement before you will be allowed to take your exam.
Rescheduling or canceling an exam
If you need to reschedule or cancel your exam, you may do so up to 24 hours before the start of the appointment without penalty. You may not reschedule or cancel an exam appointment after it has started.
- Log in to https://certification.asqula.com
- Follow the steps in the Getting started section to access the Examity dashboard.
- On the Examity dashboard, click the Reschedule/Cancel tile or the tab on the navigation bar.Note that by design, the browser Back button is disabled in Examity. Use the navigation menu at the top of the screen.
- Select the exam you want to reschedule or cancel.
- To reschedule, click Reschedule Exam and choose a new appointment time. To cancel, click Cancel Appointment. If you used a promotional code to schedule your appointment, and then cancel the appointment, you will not be able to reuse the promotional code when you want to reschedule the exam.If you make a change less than 24 hours in advance, you will be charged a late change fee.
- Confirm your choice at the pop-up window.
- A new window will confirm cancellation or the new appointment. You will also receive an email with detailed information.
Taking the exam
Make sure you have reviewed the terms & conditions outlined in the Okta Certification Program Agreement and the policies outlined in the Okta Certification Program Handbook in advance. On test day, you must agree to the Okta Certification Program Agreement before you will be allowed to take your exam.
What to expect on test day
Before you take an exam, you need to have the required equipment. You also need to organize your test-taking environment so it complies with stated rules. The proctor will perform an authentication of your identity and verify your test-taking environment before you may start your exam. Please compare the name on your appointment to the name on your government-issued identification card. They must match in order for you to take your exam. If they do not match, please cancel your appointment to get a refund and.
Required equipment
Make sure you have the right tools with you on test day. The following items are required:
- Log in to https://certification.asqula.com
- Government-issued ID with Picture. You will show this to the proctor via webcam during authentication. Your name on the government-issued ID must match the name that you used to register for the exam. If they do not match, your proctor will not allow you to take the exam. To correct a name discrepancy, please contact certification@asqula.com before your exam appointment for assistance.
- Computer or laptop
- PC or Mac connected to a power source
- You must be allowed to download software to this computer.
- Wired internet connection with minimum 5 Mbps download speed and 3 Mbps upload speed
- Complete a computer readiness check and internet speed test.
- Webcam
- It must be portable enough to scan the room. Your proctor will require a visual inspection of your workspace.

Role-based credentials
Okta certifications are role-based and designed to set baseline skill standards for key technical personnel involved in implementing or managing an Okta instance. Credentials are earned by passing an Okta certification exam, series of exams, or by fulfilling other performance-based activities.

Okta Certified Professional
The Okta Certified Professional KNOWS Okta. They possess knowledge about secure identity management and mobility concepts. They have hands-on experience completing day-to-day operational tasks to support users of the Okta service. Professionals have familiarity with Okta technology and processes related to simple directory integration, single sign-on federation, and application provisioning aspects of User Life Cycle Management.
Okta Certified Administrator
The Okta Certified Administrator MANAGES Okta. They are technically proficient at managing the Okta service. They have extensive knowledge about how Okta enables advanced User Lifecycle Management scenarios involving mobile devices, security policy frameworks, supported SSO options, and advanced directory integration for cloud and on-premise access. Administrators use the Okta Policy framework to control user access, understand how to map identity attributes and data transformations using Universal Directory, and troubleshoot issues.
Okta Certified Consultant
The Certified Consultant IMPLEMENTS Okta. They are technically proficient at implementing the Okta service in a variety of configurations. Consultants have experience integrating common applications, such as, Office 365, G Suite, Box, and Salesforce with Okta. They also have extensive knowledge and experience scoping and implementing complex Okta integrations involving multi-forest and multi-domain environments, advanced single sign-on (SSO), and inbound federation with Okta. Consultants have working knowledge of Okta APIs and custom configuration options.
Okta Certified WIC Developer
The Okta Certified Developer BUILDS secure, seamless experiences, using Okta APIs and SDKs. They are technically proficient at working with Okta RESTful APIs and developing web applications. They have general understanding of authentication and authorization standards such as OpenID Connect (OIDC) and OAuth, as well as how Okta supports these standards for building authentication, flexible authorization, and role-base access control. Developers also have experience configuring authorization with API Access Management and implementing Single Sign-On (SSO) with OIDC. They have working knowledge of Okta Lifecycle Management and administrative APIs.
Okta Certified CIC Developer
Okta Certified Customer Identity Cloud Developers are identity and access management practitioners who design and implement Okta Customer Identity Cloud/Auth0 in B2B and B2C scenarios. These individuals have extensive backgrounds and experience with identity, consumer app development, and SaaS app development. They have general understanding of authentication and authorization standards such as OpenID Connect (OIDC) and OAuth, as well as how Auth0 by Okta supports these standards for building authentication, flexible authorization, and role-base access control.

Certification exams are administered and proctored by Examity®. Okta has partnered with Examity, a secure online proctoring service, to protect theof certification exams. Online proctoring means that exams can be taken from most any location at a time that is convenient for you, without travel to a test center. Okta may, at its sole discretion, opt to hold in-person testing sessions.

Eligibility
To be eligible to register for and take an exam, a candidate must be:
- At least eighteen (18) years of age or have a parent or guardian co-sign our Minor Parent-Guardian signature form downloadable here
- Must not have been banned from participation in the Program
Registering
Create a user profile on the Examity site at prod.examity.com/okta. Provide your name, company name, email address, phone number, and a current headshot photograph (not an ID).
NOTE: Okta does not require the upload of any form of legal identification, such as driver’s license, passport or another government issued ID. You will be required to present formal identification as part of the exam authentication process on the day of your test, but to safeguard against unauthorized access to sensitive test taker credentials, government issued IDs are not recorded or stored in user profiles for Okta certification exams.
The following registration conduct is strictly prohibited:
- Providing false or misleading information about your identity or that of any other person
- Registering for or taking an Okta exam with another individual’s Examity login
- Allowing someone else to register for or take and Okta exam with your Examity login
- Creating multiple Examity site profiles
- Holding multiple exam registrations at the same time under different Examity logins
3. Confidential Information
You agree that the Exam and all content related to the Exam are Okta’s confidential and proprietary information (“Confidential Information”). You are prohibited from disclosing (whether verbally, in writing or in any media), disseminating, copying, publishing, or transmitting any Confidential Information in any form to any person, or using any Confidential Information for any other purpose. Candidate must read and agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the Okta Non-Disclosure Agreement before sitting any Okta certification exam. Candidate’s obligations to protect Confidential Information shall survive the termination of this Agreement.
4. Testing Regulations
You agree to comply with all testing regulations required by Okta and/or Okta authorized contractors administrating the Exam, including without limitation, (i) You agree not to register for the Exam or apply for certification under more than one name or identity, and (ii) You agree not to take the Exam for another person.
5. Code of Conduct
Candidate will comply with Okta’s test taking Code of Conduct stated in the Okta Certification Program Handbook. Candidate shall not participate in any cheating, breach of security, misconduct, or any actions that will compromise theor confidentiality of an Okta examination or otherwise compromise theor confidentiality of Okta’s certification programs.
6. Certification Designation and Related Information Disclosure
Third parties may contact Okta in order to verify your Certification Designation status, and You hereby authorize Okta to disclose such information regarding your Certification Designation status to such third parties seeking verification. You acknowledge that Okta may provide third parties access to information regarding your Certification Designation via a publicly available online search tool that is searchable using your person information, such as, your first and last name. Okta may use and disclose personal information such as Your name, information about Exams for which You have registered, Your Certification Designation, and information regarding associated Exam results to administer and facilitate the Program, including Your participation therein or involvement thereto. Without limiting the foregoing, Okta may share information about Exams for which you have registered, your Certification Designation, and information regarding associated Exam results with Your employer or the entity paying for Your participation in the Program, and/or the entity to which You are providing services for the purposes of facilitating and improving the Program.
7. Okta Certification; Logo Rights
Effective upon receipt by Candidate of written confirmation from Okta that Candidate has successfully completed and passed the Exam, and subject to the terms of this Agreement, Okta grants to Candidate a personal, non-exclusive, nontransferable, revocable certification designation for a named credential (“Certification Designation”) and the right to use such Certification Designation logo (“Logo”) on business cards, resumes and letterhead, and websites solely in connection to the Okta product for which You have a valid Certification Designation and only during the period that your certification from Okta is valid. Your use of the Logo is subject to the terms of this Agreement and Okta’s logo usage guidelines (“Logo Guidelines). Candidate may not use the Logo in any way that: (i) may be construed to establish an affiliation between Okta and any third-parties other than the Candidate, or (ii) negatively impacts Okta’s reputation or goodwill. Okta retains all rights, title and interest in the Certification Designation and Logo and no other rights are granted to Candidate hereunder other than as expressly set forth in this Agreement. Certification Designation upon successful completion of the Exam is not in any way a warranty or guarantee of an individual’s abilities with regards to the Okta products and any representations made to the contrary by a certified individual are strictly prohibited.
8. Term and Termination
The term of this Agreement shall commence upon Candidate’s acceptance of the terms and conditions and shall continue until terminated as provided herein. You may terminate this Agreement at any time upon written notice to Okta. Okta may terminate this Agreement with or without cause upon thirty (30) days’ written notice to Candidate. Okta may revoke a Candidate’s Certification Designation at any time, if in Okta’s sole discretion, Okta determines that Candidate in any way: (i) assisted, or used assistance from others, in completing the Exam; (ii) circumvented or attempted to circumvent Okta program procedures or security mechanisms; or (iii) breached the terms of this Agreement. Upon termination of the Agreement for any reason, Candidate’s right to use the Certification Designation and Logo shall cease immediately.
9. Indemnification
Candidate agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Okta and Okta officers, directors, Affiliates, employees and representatives from and against any and all claims, losses, liabilities, damages, deficiencies, costs and expenses, including attorneys’ fees, arising out of, relating to, or caused directly or indirectly by: (i) Candidate’s negligent act or omission, (ii) use or misuse of Designated Certification or use of Logo, (iii) breach of Candidate’s confidentiality obligations, or (iv) breach of obligations under this Agreement.
10. Warranties
OKTA MAKES AND CANDIDATE RECEIVES NO WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATIONS OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, RELATED TO OR ARISING IN ANY WAY OUT OF THIS AGREEMENT. OKTA SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY FOR MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
11. Limitation of Liability
OKTA’S TOTAL LIABILITY PURSUANT TO THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT EXCEED THE FEES PAID TO OKTA, IF ANY, TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OKTA PROGRAM. MOREOVER, OKTA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, CONTRACTS, OR FAILURE TO REALIZE EXPECTED COST SAVINGS EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SAME OR SAME WERE REASONABLY FORESEEABLE. CANDIDATE ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE FEES FAIRLY REFLECT THIS ALLOCATION OF RISK, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH LIABILITY IS BASED ON BREACH OF CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY OR BREACH OF WARRANTIES.
12. Independent Contractor
You acknowledge that You are an independent contractor and nothing herein shall be construed as creating a partnership, agency or any form of joint enterprise based on this Agreement or upon Candidate’s authorized use of an Okta Certification Designation or Logo.
13. Assignment, Waiver and Severability
Candidate acknowledges that the rights and obligations hereunder, including any right to use a Logo, in whole or in part, are personal and may not be assigned by Candidate to any third party. Any attempted assignment will be null and void and shall constitute a breach of this Agreement. No modification of these terms and conditions or waiver of rights will be effective unless agreed in writing by the party to be charged. Waiver of any breach or default will not constitute waiver of any other right under these terms and conditions or any subsequent breach or default.
14. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed in all respects by and construed under the laws of the United States of America and the State of California without reference to choice of law principles. The state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California shall have exclusive jurisdiction to adjudicate any dispute arising out of or relating to this Agreement. Each party hereby consents to the exclusive jurisdiction of such courts. Each party also hereby waives any right to jury trial in connection with any action or litigation in any way arising out of or related to this Agreement.
15. Remedies
It is expressly agreed that a material breach of this Agreement by Candidate shall cause irreparable harm and a remedy at law would be inadequate. In addition to any and all remedies available at law, Okta shall be entitled to an injunction or other equitable remedies in all legal proceedings in the event of any threatened or actual violation of any or all of the provisions of this Agreement.
16. Notices
All notices must be in writing and delivered via (i) email with confirmation of receipt; (ii) certified mail, return receipt, postage pre-paid; (iii) recognized courier service properly addressed and stamped with the required postage; or (iv) delivered by hand directed to the person specified below at the facsimile number listed below. Candidate’s notice address, facsimile number and email address shall be designated at the time of registration. All notices to Okta must be sent to the attention of the General Counsel, Okta, Inc.,100 First Street, San Francisco, CA 94105.
17. Entire Agreement, Modifications
This Agreement and any terms incorporated by reference including the Certification Program Handbook, Okta Privacy Policy, Program, and Logo Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between Okta and Candidate and supersede and terminate any and all prior agreements or contracts, written or oral, concerning the Program. To the extent there is any conflict of terms, the order of precedence shall be as follows: Certification Program handbook, Certification Program Agreement, and Privacy Policy. If any of the provisions of this Agreement are declared to be invalid, such provisions will be severed from this Agreement and the other provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect. Okta reserves the right to modify the Program, Okta Certification Program Handbook, requirements for Certification, the Exams, Okta Privacy Policy, Logo Guidelines, or this Agreement at any time, without notice.
